How do I Setup and configure imToken Hot Wallet with the Portal Wallet dApp?
When it comes to Nervos CKB, the wallet (Hot & Cold) I LOVE the most is imToken (Ethereum & Bitcoin Wallet). imToken is a multi-chain wallet that also has a decentralized exchange, a hardware wallet and a dApp browser. This is going to be a multi-part series that explores the entire feature set and how it relates to securing and exchanging your Nervos CKB.
In our first post, we will go over setting up the Hot (online wallet) and access the dApp browser to setup and configure the Portal Wallet dApp linked to your imToken Ethereum Address.
Let's get started by downloading imToken. I used the iOS App Store since I am using Apple, but you can download for iOS or Android OS. Next, Open imToken and click Create Identity and Confirm Terms of Service.
Choose an Identity Name and Password.
Click Create. Click Confirm to accept the default coins (ETH, BTC and ATOM. You can select other coins as well.
Click Backup Now to backup your secret mnemonic phrase. DO NOT give this phrase out or you put your coins at risk. The Mnemonic Phrase consists of 12 words. Write them down in a safe place. You will need them if you ever choose to restore this Hot wallet. Once you have them written down, choose Confirmed Backup.
Now you are ready to confirm your phrase. Choose the correct words and click Next. Your Ethereum Hot Wallet has now been successfully configured.
Your Ethereum Hot Wallet is now online.
Now you are ready to access the dApp browser to connect the Portal Wallet to your Ethereum Hot Wallet Address. Choose the Browser icon at the bottom of the screen and type Portal in the search for dApp URL.
Click Portal Wallet and approve the link to your Ethereum Address. You now have a CKB Address tied to your Ethereum address.
NOTE: You must not lose your mnemonic phrase; it is the only thing that ties your CKB to this particular Ethereum address. If you lose it and you have to restore your CKB funds, you will not be able to. The Portal Wallet is linked forever to this specific Ethereum address. If you create a new Ethereum address and open the Portal Wallet, it will create a new address and you will not see your funds.
With the Portal Wallet open, click ... on the top-left and select Favorite. The next time, you open the dApp browser the Portal Wallet will be saved to access your CKB funds quickly under Favorite.
