How do I Create a Solana (Hot)Wallet?

Today, we are going to walk through configuring a Solana (Hot) Wallet. A Hot wallet is simply a wallet connected to the Internet.

Let’s begin by downloading the Phantom Wallet extension in the Chrome Store.

In this example, I am using the Brave Browser and I will choose Add to Brave.

Next, I will choose Create a New Wallet.

I will add a secure password that is strong such as 3434ERF$$#GR@#%TGF.

Click Continue.

WARNING: For the purposes of this post, I will reveal the Secret Recovery Phrase. Under NO circumstances should you ever do this. Also, DO NOT save this phrase on your computer.

Keep it completely offline.

If someone has your secret funds, you are giving them access to your account.

After you have written down your secret phrase, select I saved my Secret Recovery Phrase and click Continue. You have now successfully create a Solana Wallet.

Select the Phantom icon and you can get the QR code to deposit SOL from a CEX or DEX.

Restoring your Solana Wallet

Before you send any funds to your wallet, test that you can restore you wallet via your secret key phrase. Delete everything you just did and start over by clicking settings (lower right-hand corner) and selecting Reset Secret Recovery Phrase.

Next, enter your secret phrase into the box below.

Click Restore Wallet and Import your selected account.

Create a password. Do you see now if someone has your secret phrase, your password means nothing?

Click Continue and you have successfully restored your Solana wallet. You are now ready to send funds.
